Es Figueral Nou

Squirrelled away in the countryside just outside the pretty town of Montuïri, four star Hotel Rural Es Figueral Nou is the perfect landing place for an adults-only getaway. 

This impressive estate overlooks acres of glorious countryside in the island’s agricultural heartland, with the Tramuntana mountains as its backdrop in the distance.

Located minutes on foot from the picturesque towns of Montuïri, and minutes by car from Sant Joan and Petra, this unspoilt area of Mallorca is a blend of orchards, rolling hills, characterful villages and ancient windmills. 

Renovated throughout in 2022, a small flight of steps takes you up to the welcome area and lounge which, in its elevated position, commands spectacular views across the countryside. Just magical!

There is a rustic minimalism decor with whitewashed interiors, use of natural fibres, absence of clutter, and all with the soundtrack of silence and getting back to nature. 

There are 40 bedrooms with seven categories laid out over three floors in the main and adjacent building where clean lines and clutter free decor continues. 

In the main building, you will find the Standard, Superior with or without terrace and the Junior Suite Terrace.  In the adjacent building, the Standard garden rooms, Signature with terrace and Sunior Suite with Terrace.

All are generous in size with wooden or tiled floors, beamed ceilings and are tastefully decorated in harmonious tones of white and stone. They are minimalist without being stark. Some of the rooms have private terraces to soak in those countryside vistas.

The  Signature rooms with terrace are generous at 40 m² with views over the garden and have a true Mallorcan feel. But if you want to splash out, the Junior Suite Terrace is vast at 70 m² with separate bedroom and living room and private terrace where you can really spread out.

There are two pools, a tennis court, a gym, a sauna and whirlpool to keep you busy.

The spacious signature Es Pati Restaurant serves a daily changing local menu. It is popular locally and with guests, offering inside dining and in the warmer months, spilling onto the terrace. 

If you can pull yourself away, the location is perfect for exploring. Petra is just 10 minutes way by car, with its narrow streets, stone houses and relatively untouched by tourism. It’s most famous son, Saint Junipero, is known as the ‘father of California’ for his role in establishing the mission stations in the state in the 1700’s. 

For two wheelers, there are endless cycle routes to follow on your own bike or available for hire along quiet roads flanked by dry-stone walls and blossom laden fields. There is also walking in the area and, for golf lovers, the courses of Puntiró and Son Gual can be reached in 15 minutes by car.

Es Figueral Nou makes a relaxing base both for a little exercise and for pool-side reading, after lazy breakfasts on the terrace with only the sound of birdsong and sheep bells tinkling in the distance.
