Hotel Ca n’Alexandre

Heritage meets design at Hotel Ca n’Alexandre in the heart of the old town of Palma. This charming four star boutique hotel has a unique history to tell.

Can Alexandre Palma
Housed in the former home of Jaume Alexandre, a leading liberal politician and journalist in the 1930s who lost his life to the Franco regime along with Emil Darder, the last Republican Mayor of Palma.

A century later his two great-granddaughters have remodelled what was their family home into a welcoming hotel named after their heroic ancester. Preserving as many historic elements as possible, the beauty of the original building is there for all to see from the original sandstone blocks and iron beams to the tiles and balustrades.

The Arabic water deposito that supplied the house was uncovered which has been preserved and offers a space for meetings and private events.

Something Different

The dining room is a meeting place for local Palmesanos and visitors to gather over coffee and cake as well as delicious cuisine.

Call in for breakfast , brunch homemade cakes and an evening menu with organic products from the family’s estate of Son Siurana.

What's Special

As Monsina, the owner, walks around with me, she casually points out that all the artwork is her own and that she handmade all the bedrooms’ lamps. The bedside lamps are wrought from iron and wood and are works of art in themselves. And Monsina herself did all the welding!

The hotel fittings and fixtures, all bespoke, were commissioned from local craftsmen; the side tables, curtain rails and wall lights from an artisan in Esporles and the Spanish floor tiles from a workshop in Inca. The hotel showcases the very best workmanship, design and style that Mallorca has to offer.
