Barefoot Hotel Mallorca
Situated in the heart of the picturesque coastal village of Portocolom, five star boho chic Barefoot Hotel Mallorca is the perfect east coast retreat.
Opened just last year, this low rise white-washed hotel is an oasis of calm with it’s minimalist furnishings and wide open public spaces. Set across two buildings, second line and front line from the sea, this is a beach lovers dream.
The location is perfect. Minutes on foot from the local shops, bars and waterfront restaurants, a short drive from many of the picture postcard shots of Cala Sa Nau, the famed Es Pontàs beach with its rugged arched rock and Cala Mondragó nature reserve with its hiking trails and hidden coves.
There are 60 bedrooms set over three floors, with several room categories; the Puro Double and Puerto Double, the latter offering open balcony or terrace, the Pino Superior with balcony and the Mar Deluxe rooms with sea view balcony.
For room to spread out, book the Pueblo with private terrace and jacuzzi or one of the suites which are spacious at 40 m² , with snug balcony but oodles of space on the roof terrace complete with jacuzzi.
All the bedrooms are light and bright and decorated in a restful palette of biscuit and beige with naturally woven throws and headboards. The stone floors are complemented by sisal rugs and generous linen drapes and textiles, creating a peaceful ambiance.
The large outdoor pool and terrace is cocooned by the hotel and flanked with numerous sun beds. The perfect place to recline. Food and drinks are served here throughout the day.
The signature Barefoot Restaurant is located in the second building facing the sea. Guests can avail themselves of complimentary yoga classes, as well as art classes given once a week. The hotel’s Wellness Suite is a tranquil spot to while away a few hours in one of the four pools, hamman, Finnish sauna or indulge in a treatment from their extensive menu.
Oh and best of all the hotel is open 12 months of the year. Perfect for a winter getaway with hiking and biking trails on the doorstep.

If you were not lucky enough to secure a jacuzzi room, then why not take advantage of the unique opportunity to ‘ book ‘ one of the three “private roof terraces with jacuzzi and sea view” and enjoy the vistas in private.

The Barefoot Restaurant has quickly become a favourite in this picturesque harbour town. With excellent locally sourced products, savour cuisine such as Majorcan “Coca” with roasted peppers, cured mackerel, burrata, sun-dried tomatoes, pumpkin seed vinaigrette salad or the delicious croquettes, black pudding and apricot compote from Porreres.
For the main, try the bombeta, red prawns and parsley emulsion, John Dory, creamy “tumbet” and peppers or one of my favourites Majorcan black pig, Catalan greens and creamy apple emulsion. A foodies dream. And it’s open 12 months of the year !
Restaurants
Breakfast, which is included in your room rate is served between 07.30 am and 11.00am and is a feast with an extensive buffet of fruits and fresh meats, baked breads and warm eggs plus freshly squeezed juices.
Barefoot Restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner all year.
