Michelin starred chef Adrian Quetglas was a welcome addition to Palma´s exciting, diverse and constantly evolving food scene.
Of Mallorcan heritage, Adrian Quetglas was born in Argentina but his Mallorcan father and grandparents made sure he was brought up enjoying ` island´ cuisine. Interested in cooking from an early age, he honed his skills first in Paris and then in London at Soho´s Quo Vadis with Marco Pierre White.
But he believes his mentor and now good friend Marc Fosh (the first English chef to be awarded a Michelin Star in Spain) to be his true inspiration for cooking. They travelled together to Moscow in 2005 where Adrián was to stay to continue his experience before fulfilling his dream of opening his own restaurant in Palma.
Situated on the colonnaded Passeig de Mallorca just off Avenida Jaime III, Adrián Quetglas Restaurant´s location is superb for a lazy lunch after shopping or an evening supper followed by a walk along the seafront just minutes down the hill.
This is a degustation-only restaurant where you will enjoy a menu (five courses at lunchtime or seven courses in the evening) of small, dazzling dishes with selected wines to match perfectly (at an extra charge).
For lunch, taking just two courses as an example, you will dine on cream of aromatic herbs, black pudding truffle and hazelnut oil, followed by Atlantic trout with fennel and orange beurre blanc and the evening menu includes for example, Mallorcan loin of lamb, spiced puree of apricots, ground pistachios and black olive essence. Adrián´s vision for his food promises guests a complete gastronomic experience and boy does he deliver !
At just €40 for five course this is exceptional value.
Adrian Quetglas Restaurant should be on every foodie´s list. You will need to book !
