Bike hire in Palma | Palma on Bike | Bike Tours in Palma | Mallorca

Bike hire in Palma is so easy. The international superstars of cycling have done wonders over the last few years getting us interested in two wheels so why not hire a bike in Palma ?

Mallorca is widely regarded as a cyclist’s paradise, and with good reason. Many of the world’s top professional cycling teams hold training camps here through the cooler months and the roads have been described as being ‘like a scalextric track for bicycles’.

But don´t go shopping for lycra just yet. Starting in Palma, the city has the bike bug.

Hire a bike for a half day or full day. Most companies offer children´s bikes and tag-a-long bikes for hire.

Palma is made for cycling with plenty of little narrow streets and very little traffic in the Old Town.

If you want to venture out of the city, there is an excellent cycle lane and wide promenade around Palma Bay which offers flat and easy riding.

It goes east to Playa de Palma  (approx 6 miles) passing through the little harbour of Portixol with its lively cafés, the old fishing neighbourhood of Molinar with its little bay, cycling right alongside the coast, to the pretty beach of Cuitat Jardin.

Heading west you can cycle from Es Baluard city walls, past the hundreds of yachts bobbing in the harbour to the Marivent Palace (the King of Spain´s Palma residence) . Take it easy and stop along the way to take some pictures and of course for a refreshment or two.

The Bicipalma  scheme allows both residents and visitors over the age of 16 years access to around 300 bicycles. There is a Mobipalma app to make it easy to check where there are bikes available.

There are also numerous bike hire shops, Palma on Bike  in Paseo Marítimo if, for example, you need different sized bikes for children.
